Rouyn-Norandaroo'ĭn nərăn'də, Fr. rooăN', city (1991 pop. 26,448), extreme SW Que., Canada. Created (1986) by an amalgamation of Rouyn and Noranda, it is the center of a gold-, copper-, and zinc-mining region. Noranda is the site of a large smelter.

    Val d'Or, town (1991 pop. 23,842), SW Que., Canada, SE of Rouyn-Noranda. It is a mining center. Gold was discovered in the region in 1909; copper, zinc, lead, and molybdenum are also mined.
