Maringá is a city in southern Brazil that was founded on May 10, 1947. Maringá is the third largest city in the state of Paraná. The city has a population of 329,800, 570,094. It is a regional centre of commerce, services, agro-industries, and universities, including the State University of Maringá. In 1925 in London, the Northern Paraná Land Company was established. It was responsible for the settling of more than 500,000 acres in the northern part of the State, which today contains some of the biggest cities of Paraná.
