Lugoloo'gō, city (1990 pop. 81,493), capital of Lugo prov., NW Spain, in Galicia, on the Miño River. The city is the processing and trade center for a fertile farm area. One of the largest slaughterhouses in Spain is in Lugo. It has well-preserved Roman walls (3d cent. B.C.) and a 12th-century cathedral (restored).

Lugo is a city in northwestern Spain, in the autonomous community of Galicia. It is the capital of the province of Lugo. The municipality had a population of 95,416 in 2008, becoming the fourth most populated city in Galiza The city was probably founded by Celts of the Cult of Lugh, the bearer of the Grail and God of Light. Later conquered by Paulus Fabius Maximus and called Lucus Augusti in 13 BC on the positioning of a Roman military camp , while the Roman Empire completed the conquest, in the North, of the Iberian Peninsula.
